Low Carbohydrate Diet
Cutting down on the amount of carbohydrates you eat will help shed those excess pounds fast. How does it work? Essentially your body converts carbohydrates to glucose which is then used for energy. By lowering carbohydrates the body has less energy to burn and therefore must use fat reserves instead.
The end result is a slimmer body and a faster metabolism. This is one of the biggest benefits of a low carbohydrate diet. It is a fact, foods high in carbohydrates contribute to obesity, diabetes, high blood pressure and heart disease to name just a few.
In 2012, Professor Tim Noakes conducted a study on the effects of simple carbohydrates on the human body. What Professor Noakes found was; carbohydrates like sugar, cake, fast food, pastries, juice and soda are not good for anyone to consume. What prompted Professor Noakes to conduct such a study? His own father died from diabetes.
This made Professor Noakes change his own dietary habits. He removed simple carbohydrates and replaced them with nutrient rich foods. He lost a lot of weight, had more energy and felt like he was ten years younger. What did he do? He introduced foods into his diet that were high in proteins and very low in carbohydrate. http://www.webmd.com/diet/
These included: meat, poultry, fish, cheese, nuts and seeds. He introduced more vegetables like: radish, turnip, carrots, beetroot, onion, garlic, shallots, celery, leeks, brussel sprouts, broccoli, mung beans, alfalfa, avocado, Jerusalem artichokes, eggplant and taro. You get the general idea here: no white bread, junk foods or soda. Instead you eat lots of protein, fresh vegetables, nuts and seeds.
Low carbohydrate diets can take a while to get used to. Most people start by decreasing high carbohydrate foods over a period of a couple of weeks. This allows the body to adjust and can stop sugar cravings which make people want to give up.
What other benefits do low carbohydrate diets have? Increased mental alertness, higher levels of energy, physical fitness, enhanced lean muscle mass, a flat belly and decreased cravings for high carbohydrate foods are all part of eating a healthy diet that is low in carbohydrates.
