The best types of foods to eat on a low carbohydrate diet are whole foods. What are whole foods? They are foods which contain one ingredient only. Making a meal from whole foods is easy, good for you and packed with nutrients. In fact, you may be surprised just how much you food you can eat on a low carbohydrate diet. Here are a few low carb meal combinations for you to try. MedIndia – Nutrition

Fillet mignon and vegetables galore: Cook the fillet mignon to your liking and pile your plate high with the following items: Spinach, cherry tomatoes, broccoli, carrot and cauliflower. Drizzle a little balsamic vinegar over the veggies and top with ground pepper. You won’t be hungry after this feast.

Crunchy salad topped with oven baked salmon: Coat a baking tray with olive oil cooking spray. Put the salmon on the tray and bake for 10 to 15 minutes on 350°F. While the salmon is cooking prepare your salad. You will need mixed greens, cranberries, crushed walnuts, pumpkin seeds, grated carrot and some blue cheese crumbles. Place all ingredients in a bowl and toss until combined. Sprinkle some olive oil over the top and transfer onto a plate. Remove the salmon from the oven and sit it on top of your crunchy salad. This meal is great in the summertime, packed with protein and very filling.
You get the idea. Your meal combinations will only be limited by your imagination. Make meals from the following foods: Protein: lean beef, lamb, all types of poultry, eggs, cheese, seeds and nuts. Vegetable: Spinach, kale, mixed leafy greens, tomato, cauliflower, broccoli, carrot, bell peppers, celery, cucumber, zucchini, mushroom, onion, cabbage, bean sprouts and lettuce. Fruit: strawberry, cranberry, apple, apricot, peach, melon and raspberries. Fats: olive oil, coconut oil and butter. Nuts and seeds: walnuts, pumpkin seeds, almonds, brazil nuts, sunflower seeds and cashews.
As you can see there are so many choices on this list. Obviously there are a lot more; however it would take a book to list them all. Mix and match the ingredients and you will never get bored with a low carbohydrate diet.
